2014 marked my 29th year of drawing caricatures at senior high school all-night parties. That works out to over 300 high school parties and over 9000 caricatures since 1985. My first gig that I ever worked was a high school senior all-night party and I have been doing them every year since that first time. Caricatures are extremely popular at these parties. Seniors will sit on the floor waiting for their turn even if it takes most of the night. Some will doze off while waiting. It can be a long night for them since most all night parties begin around 11PM and last as long as 7 hours. Now imagine doing that for a week straight. That’s what early June is like for every caricature artist I know. We all work many of these parties and we are like zombies during the daytime that entire week. It all came full-circle in 2014 though. I drew caricatures at my own son’s all-night high school party in Rochester. He was just one of the many faces I drew in June in the whee hours of the morning. 2015 will be 30 years and counting!
