For Events

Goofy Faces currently represents over 500 individual artists nationwide. Each artist has been reviewed and screened prior to being added to our directory of artists for events. Although each artist can charge a different rate per hour to draw at live events, the national average falls between $125 to $250 per hour. Four factors affect an artist's rate:

02-icon-1

Location

Some markets are more expensive than others and artists charge accordingly.

02-icon-2

Skill Level

An artist who makes a career out of storyboarding, animating and other illustration disciplines will usually charge more than a part-time artist who likes to draw on their days off.

02-icon-3

Experience

Veteran artists tend to draw and paint faster and with more confidence and may charge more for their years of experience.

How much do caricature artists cost?

Professional caricature artists cost range from $125 - $250+ per hour depending on the artist style, experience and media.

The calculator above is designed to help you gauge how many caricature artists to hire and a cost estimate. Your final caricature artist cost depends on the fees the artist(s) you select charge. Once you see how many artists you need or fit your budget, you can find a caricature artist near you by entering your zipcode above in the space just beneath Find an Artist. For more information about how we estimate costs take a look at our blog post on the topic artist costs.

How do we estimate the number of artist needed?

We recommend you estimate sixty percent (60%) of your guest will request a caricature from your guest artist. So, if you have 100 guests, expect around sixty will participate. Although not everyone will sit for the artist, most of your guests will take time to watch the artist draw caricatures. It’s a fun and entertaining process everyone can enjoy.

On average a caricature artist creates 10-15 black and white faces per hour, about half that number for color caricatures. So, one artist will create 30-45 B&W faces over three hours. If you have one hundred guests, you will need two artists to complete all requests during that time frame.

What if we our guest are couples? Artist work based on the number of faces they draw, so a couple on a single page still counts as two faces. A group of seven people counts as seven faces.
