Experience a world of plants and animals at the LA Zoo and Botanical Gardens

Two women have a caricature drawn by a Goofy Faces artist.

Explore plants and animals from around the world. Stop by for one – or more – of many daily keeper talks and presentations featuring seals, otters, chimps, gorillas or elephants.  The whole family will enjoy the antics of the baby hippo and baby giraffe. If the timing is right, you may get to see a new baby gorilla due any day! Come back after dark and experience a wonderland of light including “the world’s largest illuminated pop-up storybook, a magical disco ball forest, giant glittering snowflakes,” and so much more at LA Zoo Lights through January 5.

With more than 800 plant species The LA Zoo and Botanical Gardens wants visitors to truly appreciate the “connections between the fauna (animals) and the flora (plants).” Similar to the animals, the plant gardens are arranged by habitat throughout the park.

You’ll find talented Goofy Faces caricature artists and face painters at our retail stand near the main entrance along the pathway before you reach the meerkats. Open every day all summer long and every day during holiday breaks!

Bonus – The LA Zoo and Aquarium of the Pacific have combo pass so you and your family can enjoy both parks at a discounted rate. Click here for more info.
